Corrections

Our commitment to accuracy

We work to make sure everything we publish is accurate. When we spot an error, we correct it openly and quickly. Publishing fast is no excuse for publishing badly.

How to request a correction

Email redaccion@semanaldemadrid.es with the link to the article, the fact you believe is wrong and, if you have it, the source that contradicts it. You do not need to explain who you are: we review every request.

What happens next

We check the fact against the original source. If there is an error, we fix the article and record the change. If we cannot confirm or refute it, we tell you why. If the information was correct, we reply as well.

How corrections are marked

  • Substantive corrections (a fact, a figure, a name, a wrong attribution): the text is fixed and a visible note is added at the end of the article with the date and what changed.
  • Updates (the story develops and we add new information): the update date is shown, with no correction note, because the original text was not wrong.
  • Minor errors (typos, spelling, broken links): fixed without a note, as they do not change the meaning.

We never quietly delete an article to hide a mistake. If content must be removed for legal reasons, the URL stops being available and we explain why where appropriate.

Right of reply

Regardless of this policy, anyone named in a report they consider inaccurate and damaging may exercise their right of reply under Spanish Organic Law 2/1984 by writing to legal@semanaldemadrid.es.

Timing

Correction requests take priority over other messages and we aim to resolve them within 48 working hours.
