About us

Who we are

El Semanal de Madrid is an independent digital outlet covering the city of Madrid and the towns of the wider region. We publish daily, with no paywall, no intrusive advertising and no tracking cookies.

What we cover

Our focus is local: incidents and emergencies, decisions taken by the city council and the regional government, public services, housing, transport, culture, leisure and sport. We prioritise what affects daily life here over the national news already covered elsewhere.

How we work

We start from public, verifiable sources: council press rooms and bulletins, official bodies, emergency services and the press releases sent to us. We then produce our texts with the support of artificial intelligence tools, always under human editorial supervision before publication.

That supervision does not make us infallible. When an error gets through, we correct it and say so, following our corrections policy.

Bylines and images

Articles may be signed with editorial pen names. They are not specific individuals, and the portraits accompanying them are AI generated. Most images illustrating our articles are AI generated: they accompany the text but are not photographic evidence of what happened. When a photograph is real, we credit it.

What we do not do

We do not publish paid content without labelling it, we do not sell links inside news articles, we do not profile readers for advertising and we do not share data with third parties.

How we are funded

The outlet is funded through advertising and branded content that is clearly separated from editorial content. Any sponsored piece is visibly labelled and does not affect our reporting. For commercial enquiries: publicidad@semanaldemadrid.es.
