The Majadahonda Town Hall is launching the second edition of the Literary and Artistic Creation Workshop for People with Intellectual Disabilities on October 5, which is free and requires prior registration via email.
The Majadahonda Town Hall will begin the second edition of the Literary and Artistic Creation Workshop for People with Intellectual Disabilities on Monday, October 5, to be held at the Carmen Conde Cultural Centre. Sessions will take place every Monday from 10 AM to 1 PM, with a break in between, and the activity is free of charge.
The workshop is aimed at individuals with intellectual disabilities who are interested in culture and art, and they must be accompanied by a professional or reference monitor. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with registration done by sending an email to ocioinclusivo@majadahonda.org.
This initiative is supported by the departments of Culture and Women, Inclusion and Disability Care, along with the LibreYAzul Association. Last year, this entity conducted a workshop focused on poetry; this edition expands the programme to include other disciplines such as theatre, painting, and photography.
Professional volunteers from LibreYAzul will guide the activities, aimed at improving reading comprehension, creativity, oral and written expression, self-esteem, respect for peers, teamwork, and body expression, according to municipal sources.
The workshop is part of the Intergenerational Plan against Unwanted Loneliness in Majadahonda, which includes actions to ensure the inclusion and full participation of people with disabilities in municipal life.
The aim is to support participants' reading comprehension, as well as their creativity, oral and written expression, self-esteem, respect for peers, teamwork, and body expression,” municipal officials state.
Interested individuals should write to ocioinclusivo@majadahonda.org to formalise their registration before the workshop begins.
