The dining hall for seniors in San Fernando de Henares reopens on September 15 from 14:00. The menus will cost €6.50 and will include a starter, main course, dessert, bread, and water.
The City Council of San Fernando de Henares will reopen the dining hall for seniors on September 15, which remained closed during the summer. The service will maintain the same schedule as last season and will start serving from 14:00.
The mayor, Javier Corpa, explained that this is “a fundamental public service that responds to a demand from the community and guarantees access to healthy menus at affordable prices; moreover, it is a meeting point for social interaction, as part of the initiatives promoted by this government team for active aging and against unwanted loneliness.”
The menu will include starter, main course, dessert, bread, and water for €6.50. To dine in the venue, reservations must be made at least one day in advance before 12:30 at the phone number 617 582 626. There is also an option for takeaway orders, which must be requested at the same number.
Looking ahead to 2026, the municipal budget includes an allocation of nearly €400,000 to create a new dining hall in the old Civil Protection building on Carretera de Mejorada. The facilities will have a larger capacity for diners and will include recreational and leisure spaces.
The dining hall is part of the Municipal Programme for Active Aging and Against Unwanted Loneliness, which also promotes sociocultural courses, with nearly 1,600 places for the 2026-2027 season, 300 more than the previous year. The draw for places will take place on September 16, with around a hundred groups and about 40 different activities.
Additionally, the municipality will celebrate the International Day of Older Persons with a tribute to residents who turn 90, 100, or more in 2026 and the reading of a manifesto by the Participation Board.
