The Councillor for Sports, Silvia Castillo, and the president of the Velilla Artistic Skating Club, Susana Tordesillas, have met to plan the upcoming season and agree on the use of municipal sports facilities.
The Councillor for Sports of Velilla de San Antonio, Silvia Castillo, has met with the president of the Velilla Artistic Skating Club, Susana Tordesillas, and its board of directors to lay the groundwork for the 2026/2027 season. The meeting is part of a series of discussions that the Sports Department holds with the clubs in the municipality.
During the meeting, the club shared its assessment of the recently concluded season and presented its proposals for improvement. The sports planning for the upcoming year was also analysed, in a context of growth for the organisation, which has significantly increased the number of skaters in recent years.
One of the aspects most valued by the Town Council is that all skaters competing at the federated level have previously attended the municipal sports school. This continuity between the school and the club is, according to the Council, the synergy that they want to promote between the local administration and the associative fabric.
The club bases its model on the learning and support of athletes, incorporating specific technical training and complementary resources. The meeting served to gain firsthand knowledge of this evolution and to coordinate joint actions that bring artistic skating closer to the residents and highlight the efforts of its athletes.
Another agreement reached was the signing of the document that will regulate the use of municipal sports facilities during the 2026/2027 season. This agreement guarantees the availability of the facilities for the club's training and competitions.
The councillor also informed the club about the child and adolescent protection project in the sports field that will begin to be developed from September. The initiative aims to raise awareness, train, and provide tools to all individuals involved in sports activities, including boards of directors, coaches, athletes, and families.
The Town Council expressed its gratitude to the club for its work, attention to the comprehensive development of its athletes, and willingness to collaborate with the municipality. The relationship between both entities is, according to municipal sources, “exceptional” in terms of collaboration and coordination.
The club will continue its activities during the summer, and the new season will kick off in September, coinciding with the start of the child protection project.
