The pool of the Municipal Sports Complex of Villalbilla will remain closed today after suffering damage overnight. The damage affects the bathrooms, umbrellas, and the adapted chair for people with reduced mobility.
The facilities of the Municipal Sports Complex (CPM) of Villalbilla woke up this Thursday inoperative after a group of vandals caused damage during the early hours. The Town Hall has decided to suspend the opening of the pool temporarily to ensure the safety of users and to repair the damages.
The damages are numerous and affect both the bathing area and the services. The perpetrators forced the bathroom door and caused multiple breakages, overturned umbrellas with their weights and threw them into the water, and ripped off several perimeter grilles from the pool. Additionally, in a gesture of particular severity, they threw the adapted chair for people with reduced mobility into the pool.
The water in the pool also requires specific intervention. The municipal technical services will need to conduct an analysis and apply treatment before bathing can be authorised again under sanitary conditions. The council hopes that the work will allow for a reopening as soon as possible, although no specific date has been provided.
The Civil Guard and the Local Police of Villalbilla are already investigating what happened and, according to municipal sources, are working on solid leads that could lead to the identification of the alleged perpetrators in the coming days.
The municipal government team has condemned the events and has made a call for civic responsibility. They remind that these damages directly harm the neighbours and families who use the facilities in summer, and emphasise that vandalism against public property affects the entire community.
