Boadilla presents a book on the Civil War in the municipality

The Boadilla del Monte Town Hall will present the book 'The Civil War in Boadilla del Monte', by historian and archaeologist Miguel Ángel García Valero, on Friday 25th. The event will take place in the chapel of the Palace of Infante D. Luis at 19:30, with free admission until full capacity is reached.

The volume is the result of documentary research on what occurred in the municipality during the conflict. The author has conceived it with an educational purpose and from the greatest possible objectivity, as explained by the Town Hall.

Boadilla played a significant role in the conflict due to its strategic location around Madrid. The municipality was the scene of the well-known Battle of the La Coruña Road or Battle of Boadilla, in December 1936, and part of its municipal area was affected by the Battle of Brunete, in July 1937.

The book also addresses lesser-known aspects of local history, such as the first months of the war in the town, some of the characters linked to the fighting, the subsequent reconstruction of the municipality by the General Directorate of Devastated Regions, and the restoration of the Palace of Infante Don Luis, which suffered severe damage during the conflict, especially to roofs and floors. It also focuses on the remnants of the war that are still preserved in the municipal area.

The publication includes abundant historical and graphic documentation that allows readers to understand how Boadilla lived during those years and to learn about the marks that the conflict left both on the municipality and on some of its main heritage elements.

The presentation will take place on Friday 25th at 19:30 in the chapel of the Palace of Infante D. Luis. Admission is free until the room reaches full capacity.
