Writer and journalist Lola Bastos presents her first novel, 'Madreselvas, love and a tarot', on Thursday, September 24, at the María Giralt Laporta Municipal Library in Valdemorillo, based on the life of her grandmother Enriqueta Tarragó.
The María Giralt Laporta Municipal Library in Valdemorillo will host the presentation of 'Madreselvas, love and a tarot', the first novel by journalist Lola Bastos (Madrid, 1963) this Thursday, September 24. The event, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism, will begin at 19:00 and will feature the author discussing the details of the work published by Azur Editorial and illustrated by José Artieda.
The novel recreates the life of Enriqueta Tarragó, the writer's grandmother, in the 19th century. The plot follows a woman seeking to free herself from guilt, fear, and pain through authenticity and love, finding peace in Valdemorillo. The narrative is supported by two objects: a set of tarot cards and a manuscript preserved for generations in a painter's briefcase.

As the author explains, the honeysuckles in the title serve as “a symbol of the magic that blooms in sensitivity and innocence,” and music has a prominent presence in the text. The presentation will address these and other aspects of a story in search of meaning.
Lola Bastos holds a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid and worked for twenty years as a reporter at the EFE Agency and in various public and private institutions. She has dedicated another two decades to the study of tarot, an oracle that, in her words, has been “happily liberated from the dark” and which she introduces with this book.
Entry to the presentation is free until full capacity is reached. The event is at 19:00 at the municipal library, located at Calle de la Fuente, number 1, Valdemorillo.
