The sixth edition of the cycling event Xcorial Xtreme brought together 116 participants on Sunday for a 115-kilometre route through the Sierra de Guadarrama, starting in El Escorial and finishing near the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
The sixth edition of the Xcorial Xtreme took place last Sunday with 116 cyclists at the starting line. The event, organised by the Club Ciclista Escurialense, began in El Escorial and ended in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, next to the Royal Monastery, after a 115-kilometre route and 2,500 metres of positive elevation gain.
The route included four mountain passes: Los Ángeles de San Rafael, Puerto del León, Puerto de Navacerrada via Las Siete Revueltas, and El Tomillar. The two timed segments were located at Puerto del León and the ascent to Navacerrada from the Segovian side. El Tomillar was the last climb before the final kilometres towards the finish line.
The refreshment stations along the route allowed participants to replenish their energy. The day was marked by good weather, according to the organisers.
Present at the start were the mayor of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Carlota López; the mayor of El Escorial, Antonio Vicente Rubio; the sports councillor of El Escorial, Vicente Durán; and the event organisers and members of the Club Ciclista Escurialense Victorino López and Juan Manuel Mateos.
