The production omits the article from the original title and arrives in Rivas after its premiere at the Teatro Español de Madrid.
The cast is led by Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, who plays Raimunda, the mother. She is joined on stage by Juan Carlos Vellido (Esteban), Lucía Juárez (Acacia), Goizalde Núñez (Juliana), Dani Pérez Prada (El Rubio), José Luis Alcobendas (Eusebio), Álex Mola (Norberto), and Antonio Hernández Fimia (Faustino).
The actress returns to the text she performed nearly four decades ago, when she portrayed Acacia in the production directed by Miguel Narros in 1988. This time she takes on the role of the mother, Raimunda, in a story that the company itself describes as about a woman in love and broken by a situation she never imagined.
'La malquerida' premiered in 1913 at the Teatro Princesa de Madrid with a cast led by María Guerrero and Fernando Díaz de Mendoza. Throughout the 20th century, it has seen new productions featuring performers such as Lola Membrives, Margarita Xirgu, Amelia de la Torre, and Nati Mistral. The author, Jacinto Benavente, is buried in the municipal cemetery of Galapagar.
Tickets cost between 6 and 12 euros, with discounts available. They can be purchased on the website entradas.rivasciudad.es and at the box office, which is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on performance days from one hour before the start.
