The Velilla de San Antonio Town Hall is taking advantage of the school holidays to carry out improvements at CEIP Valdemera and CEIP Francisco Tomás y Valiente, with actions ranging from the renovation of playgrounds to the repair of damp issues.
The mayor of Velilla de San Antonio, Antonia Alcázar, and the councillor for Education, Pepa Gil, have supervised this week the works being carried out at the two public schools in the municipality during the summer period. The work, which is taking place at CEIP Valdemera and CEIP Francisco Tomás y Valiente, aims to ensure that the next school year starts with renewed and safe facilities for the educational community.
Among the planned actions are the renovation of the playgrounds, the replacement of floors and coverings in the classrooms, the renovation of the bathrooms, the restoration of the perimeter fencing, and the repair of damp issues. A new sandpit is also being constructed at one of the schools, according to the town hall.
These improvements are complemented by painting, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work, to ensure the good condition of the facilities and the safety of the students. The Town Hall has emphasised its commitment to quality public education, within the scope of municipal competencies.
The works are being carried out during the school holidays to avoid interfering with teaching activities. It is expected that the work will be completed before the start of the new school year, which will begin in September, although the town hall has not specified exact completion dates.
With this intervention, the municipality aims to ensure that the educational centres are in optimal condition to welcome students next September. Parents will be able to see the results of the improvements during the open day usually organised at the start of the school year.
