The Las Margaritas neighbourhood in Getafe celebrates its festivities from September 11 to 13 with music, workshops, and activities for all ages.
The neighbourhood of Las Margaritas in Getafe will celebrate its festivities from September 11 to 13, coinciding with the dates of the Los Molinos neighbourhood. The programme will kick off on Friday 11 at 17:30 with the opening of the bar and a batucada that will parade through the streets of the neighbourhood.
From 18:00, the Quick Painting Contest and Children's Afternoon will take place, featuring creative workshops. There will also be a Get-Art Craft Fair, a Tattoos & Glow workshop for young people, and a Zumba Masterclass. At 21:00, the Opening Speech will be delivered by Agustina García, president of the Las Margaritas Senior Club. This will be followed by a Young Concert at 21:30 and a Disco Mobile starting at 24:00.
On Saturday 12, activities will begin at 10:00 with Meditation, Conscious Movement, and Self-Defence. From 11:00, there will be a Children's Morning with workshops on bracelet making, bicycle repair, and first aid, among others. At 13:00, there will be a Circus and Clown Show, and at 14:00, a Tasting of Migas, Gazpacho, and Rebujito. In the afternoon, there will be batucada, a market, and children's games. At 19:00, folk groups ‘La chica la Jose’ and ‘Las cabras andan sueltas’ will perform, and at 21:00, concerts by ‘Monsters of Margaritas’ and ‘Los Pocos’ will take place. At 23:30, there will be a raffle with products donated by local businesses, and at 24:00, the disco mobile will close the day.
On Sunday 13, the last day, activities will start at 11:00 with a Bicycle Ride. At 12:30, there will be a Storytelling Session as part of the Children's Morning, and at 13:00, the Foam Party, followed by a Brass Band and the traditional Popular Paella with a raffle. In the afternoon, at 17:00, there will be more storytelling, and at 18:00, a children's show, followed by a Poetry Slam. From 19:00, the Street Party will begin, with lemonade served and the award for the Quick Painting Contest.
The Getafe City Council and the Festival Committee encourage residents to revive the tradition of decorating windows, balconies, doorways, and streets.
As with other neighbourhood festivities, there will be a bar, portable toilets, and a Purple Point for the prevention of sexual assaults, which will be active on the nights of Friday 11 and Saturday 12. The complete programme can be consulted on the official festival poster.
