Around 18,000 students in Las Rozas begin the school year. Nursery and Primary started on Monday; Secondary and Baccalaureate will join tomorrow.
About 18,000 students from Las Rozas in Madrid have returned to the classrooms in the first days of September. On Monday, Nursery and Primary students began classes, while Secondary and Baccalaureate students will join on Tuesday, September 8.
According to the Department of Education, around 75% of the student body in the municipality is enrolled in publicly funded schools, a figure that the City Council interprets as a sign of families' trust in the public offer.
Las Rozas has 43 educational centres: four public nursery schools, ten private ones, six CEIPs, four CEIPSOs, five IES, six concerted schools, seven private schools, and one special education centre. The public offer for the first cycle of Nursery (0-3 years) reaches 744 places, distributed among the nursery schools Cigüeña María, Aserrín Aserrán, La Marazuela, and Juan Ramón Jiménez, and the CEIPs Mario Vargas Llosa, San Miguel, Los Olivos, and San José.
Among the new features this year, the CEIPSOs Los Jarales and Mario Vargas Llosa expand their offerings with 2nd year of ESO, and Fernando de los Ríos introduces 1st year of ESO. All high schools in the municipality are bilingual in English, as well as 80% of Primary schools.
Additionally, Las Rozas Innova is launching this year the first pilot carpooling project for schools for families at four educational centres in the municipality.
