The Aranjuez City Council has awarded Nitlux S.A.U. the supply and installation of a new intelligent road signalling point at the intersection of Paseo del Deleite with Calle Taray, next to the Ercros factory. The contract amounts to €83,032.39 and the company has four months to execute it.

The Aranjuez City Council has awarded Nitlux S.A.U. the contract for the supply and installation of a new intelligent road signalling point at the intersection of Paseo del Deleite with Calle Taray, next to the entrance of the Ercros factory. The company was the only one to submit a bid and the final amount of the award totals €83,032.39.

According to information published on the State contracting platform, the company will have four months to carry out the work. The contract includes the supply and installation of traffic lights and poles for vehicles and pedestrians, with sound alerts for the visually impaired, as well as push buttons for pedestrians and an intelligent control system.

Additionally, two CVT speed detection cameras will be installed that will activate the red phase for vehicles when they exceed 30 km/h. The system will prioritise urban public transport (buses) to allow them to safely make a U-turn, as well as heavy vehicles exiting the Ercros factory, via a push button that will be activated from the factory's gate.

The traffic light will remain amber for vehicles with a red phase for pedestrians, except when any of the following exceptions occur: pedestrian demand, speeding, priority for buses or vehicles from Ercros. Furthermore, two working groups will be memorised in the regulator, whose cycles will be indicated by the Local Police.

The contractor must have a senior engineer or registered technician to sign the execution projects, and this technician will certify that the intersection functions correctly upon completion of the work.

We are pleased that measures are starting to be taken at high traffic intensity points. We hope this action improves safety and driving around the Ercros factory,” stated Jesús Mario Blasco, spokesperson councillor for the Independent Citizen Group for Aranjuez (Acipa).

Blasco added that he hopes “awards continue to flow” and that traffic lights will be installed at the roundabouts on the Avenida Plaza de Toros, that the safety of Cortefiel workers will be taken into account, surveillance cameras will arrive, and that work will continue on the municipality's sustainable mobility.
