The Aranjuez City Council will start on Monday, September 21 the works to install a new intelligent traffic signalling point at the intersection of Paseo del Deleite with Calle Taray, next to the access of the ERCROS factory. The first phase will consist of executing the foundations for the poles and columns, and during this work, there will be no impact on traffic.
The project involves an investment of 83,032.39 euros, VAT included. The aim is to enhance road safety and better regulate traffic in an area with a high volume of heavy vehicles, as reported by the City Council.
The new system will include poles and traffic lights for vehicles and pedestrians, pedestrian push buttons, and acoustic devices to assist visually impaired individuals in crossing. It will also feature intelligent traffic control and regulation elements.
Among the most notable components are two speed detection cameras, which will automatically activate the red phase of the traffic light when they detect speeding. The system will also incorporate traffic light priority for urban public transport, allowing municipal buses to operate more efficiently.
The project includes a specific mechanism to facilitate the exit of heavy vehicles from the ERCROS factory. This system can be activated from the factory's own gate and is designed to improve the safety of these vehicles' integration into traffic.
The Aranjuez City Council states that the installation responds to a citizen demand and will modernise the municipality's road infrastructure with solutions focused on safety, accessibility, and traffic management.
