The Town Hall of Garganta de los Montes launches a gratitude challenge: no smoking in nature and to collect all waste during the eclipse and the Perseids.
The Town Hall of Garganta de los Montes has taken advantage of this Wednesday's double astronomical event, with the eclipse and the Perseid meteor shower, to send an environmental awareness message to residents and visitors.
In a social media post, the council reminds us that, while enjoying the spectacle in the sky, we must not forget the care of the ground we walk on. The message invites reflection on the fact that nature is the true home and sustenance of life.
The proposed challenge is clear: no smoking in natural surroundings and to collect absolutely everything generated during the observation. The intention is to leave the place better than it was found, a gesture of gratitude towards the landscape that previous generations have cared for.
“The landscape you enjoy today is the work, effort, and heritage left to you by your parents and grandparents. Be grateful and take care of it,” states the municipal communication, which thanks the Sierra Norte Planetarium for its collaboration in spreading this initiative.
The campaign aims for future generations to continue admiring the sky of the Sierra de Guadarrama. To this end, the Town Hall encourages everyone who approaches the observation points to extreme cleanliness and respect for the environment during these days of peak activity for the Perseids.
