The La Cabrera Town Council will offer extracurricular activities in the schoolyards during non-school days in September, at a price of 3 euros per day and with extended hours.
The Town Council of La Cabrera has launched the “Open Yards” programme for the 2026-2027 school year, an initiative funded by the Department of Education, Science and Universities of the Community of Madrid. The aim is to provide families with a reconciliation alternative during periods without school activities, while children enjoy an outdoor space to play and share.
The first phase of the programme starts with the non-school days in September, from 1 September until the start of the school year. During these days, children can participate in activities from 9:00 to 14:00 for a price of 3 euros per day.
Additionally, there is the option to extend the hours with two optional time slots: from 8:00 to 9:00 in the morning and from 14:00 to 16:30 in the afternoon. This option is designed to adapt to the work needs of parents.
The programme also includes the opening of centres during Christmas, Holy Week and other non-school days in the academic calendar, such as 12 and 15 February 2027. Interested families can register by writing to sierranortenatura@gmail.com.
The council highlights that the initiative aims for children to learn outdoors and take care of their environment, as well as to facilitate family reconciliation in the municipality. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the programme's rules.
