The Town Hall of San Lorenzo de El Escorial will draft a project for works to renew the supply networks in the historic centre, funded by European funds.
The Town Hall of San Lorenzo de El Escorial has announced the drafting of the project for works to renew the water supply networks in the Artistic Historical Ensemble, an action aimed at addressing the leaks and breakdowns concentrated in this area of the municipality.
The initiative, funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, involves an investment of €15,790.50 from the NextGenerationEU funds. This budget will be used to draft the technical project that will allow, in a later phase, the execution of a pipe renewal campaign in the areas where the most incidents are recorded.
According to municipal sources, the aging of the infrastructure is the main cause of the current breakdowns. The objective is to modernise the supply system, improve service efficiency, and reduce water leaks in the old town, an area of special heritage value.
With this action, we are taking a new step towards modernising the hydraulic infrastructure of the municipality, prioritising those areas that present a higher number of incidents and contributing to improving the efficiency and sustainability of the water supply service
The residents of the Historical Ensemble will be the main beneficiaries of this improvement, which aims to ensure a more stable and sustainable supply. The drafting of the project is the first step in a process that will continue with the tendering and execution of the works, the timelines for which have yet to be detailed.
