The Manzanares el Real Town Hall has implemented a special security and mobility plan due to the expected large influx of people during the 2026 solar eclipse. The measures, agreed upon with the Security Board and Seprona, aim to ensure the smooth running of the astronomical event and the safety of attendees.
In order to keep the roads clear for emergency services, access will be controlled and parking will not be allowed on verges or in unapproved areas. This facilitates the passage of ambulances, firefighters, and security forces in case of need, and avoids congestion and risk situations for pedestrians, especially in areas of higher concentration.
Traffic closure on Avenida de la Paz: this road will be closed to traffic and parking, allowing only access to vehicles heading directly to hospitality services, funeral services, or private estates. The council recommends opting for walking routes to reduce the use of private vehicles.
For those arriving by car, the Town Hall is providing three public parking areas: the Montañero parking lot, the Colmenar street parking lot, and the Avenida de Madrid parking lot. It is reminded that parking on verges, access roads, or unregulated areas is prohibited.
Additionally, authorities insist that it is essential to use certified eclipse glasses only (ISO 12312-2 standard). Looking directly at the sun without proper protection can cause serious and irreversible damage to the retina.
