The Local Government Board approves an increase of 13.6 million for the street cleaning and waste collection contract, which includes new equipment, reinforcement in areas such as PAU-4, and the implementation of organic waste collection.
The Móstoles City Council has approved an increase of 13,632,514.83 euros in the Street Cleaning and Waste Collection contract, as announced this Monday by the mayor, Manuel Bautista. Of that amount, 8,423,772.54 euros will be allocated to street cleaning and 5,208,742.29 euros to waste management, with an annual increase of 3,556,308.22 euros.
The mayor explained that the previous contract was awarded in 2022, before the current municipal government took office, and that this modification aims to address shortcomings identified in areas such as PAU-4, Parque Coimbra, and Parque Guadarrama. “This increase of over 13.6 million euros allows us to give a new boost to the cleaning of Móstoles, significantly reinforcing the human and material resources dedicated to keeping our streets and public spaces in the best condition,” he stated.
In street cleaning, four additional manual sweeping teams and two mixed sweeping teams will be added for PAU-4, as well as two motorised manual sweeping teams for Parque Coimbra and Parque Guadarrama. Six multifunctional brigades with open-box vehicles will also be created to act swiftly across the different districts, and four specific teams will be established for the removal of graffiti and tags from facades and other urban elements.
Regarding waste, the collection of organic waste will be implemented with the installation of 400 specific containers and the addition of three side-loading collection trucks and one support vehicle. Additionally, 3,500 household bins will be distributed among residents to facilitate the separation of organic waste at home. The selective collection of paper and cardboard will also be reinforced with an additional team equipped with a side-loading truck.
The contract modification has already been approved by the Local Government Board and will come into effect over the next few months, according to the city council.
