Personal Mobility Vehicles will have to meet new requirements from October 1: minimum age of 15, approved helmet, registration with the DGT, and civil liability insurance. The rule comes with Royal Decree 518/2026, which modifies the General Traffic Regulations.
Users of Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs) in Perales de Tajuña will have to adapt to the new obligations that come into effect on October 1. The regulation, outlined in Royal Decree 518/2026, of June 24, modifies the General Traffic Regulations and introduces changes to enhance road safety.
Among the measures affecting electric scooter drivers and other PMVs are the minimum age of 15, the mandatory use of an approved or certified helmet, vehicle registration with the DGT, and the requirement to obtain civil liability insurance.
Additionally, it will be mandatory to keep the light always on and to wear a reflective vest at night. These requirements are in addition to those already included in the General Traffic Regulations for this type of vehicle.
The application of the rule is national, so residents of Perales de Tajuña using a PMV must comply with it on any road in the municipality and the rest of Spain. The entry into force is set for October 1.
