Hoyo de Manzanares is preparing for the solar eclipse on August 12 with a special security and mobility plan. The Town Hall has established a observation point at La Berzosa Park, where the expected influx will be concentrated.
Given the risk of wildfires in summer and the sensitivity of the natural environment, the council asks residents and visitors to attend responsibly and with a plan. It is recommended to avoid forest areas and unapproved paths, and to head first to the information booth upon arriving at the park.
To reduce the number of vehicles, a free shuttle service between Plaza Mayor and La Berzosa will be implemented. Departures will begin at 18:00, and returns will be successive after the eclipse, with the last departure from the park at 22:45. The minibus has limited capacity, so it is advisable to plan your journey in advance.
Special traffic measures will be established in the vicinity of the observation point, with possible restrictions, diversions, and parking limitations. Depending on the turnout, provisional parking areas will be set up. The Town Hall reminds everyone to park only in designated areas and not to obstruct access to homes, garages, or emergency routes.
The organisation warns that the approved glasses being distributed are reserved for those who have registered in advance. Those who have not signed up must bring their own approved eye protection to observe the sun. It is also recommended to bring water, a cap, and sunscreen.
The Local Police and Civil Protection will be present throughout the event, and the Town Hall requests that everyone follow their instructions at all times to ensure a safe and respectful day for the environment.
The eclipse will begin late in the afternoon, and the shuttle will allow attendees to return to the town centre after the observation.
