AEMET has issued an orange alert for high temperatures in Tres Cantos between 13:00 and 20:59, with a forecast high of 36 ºC and a 60% chance of rain in the afternoon.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the orange alert for heat in the Metropolitan and Henares area, where Tres Cantos is located. The alert will be in effect between 13:00 and 20:59, and temperatures in the area could reach 39 ºC, while the specific forecast for the municipality sets the high at 36 ºC and the low at 21 ºC.
The day will start with clear skies, although cloud cover will increase during the afternoon, with a 60% chance of precipitation between 12:00 and 18:00. For tomorrow, Saturday, a significant drop in temperatures is expected, with values in Tres Cantos ranging from 20 to 32 ºC, although the possibility of storms increases during the latter half of the day.
According to the latest bulletin from the Community of Madrid, prepared with data from AEMET, the forecast high for this Friday in the Metropolitan and Henares area is 38 ºC, down from the 39.6 ºC recorded in Thursday's forecast, and it anticipates a drop to 34.2 ºC on Saturday.
Recommendations for heat
In light of this new heatwave, the Tres Cantos City Council reminds the importance of taking precautions, especially during the hottest hours of the day and among the most vulnerable individuals. Health authorities recommend maintaining frequent hydration, even without feeling thirsty; avoiding direct sun exposure and intense physical exercise between 12:00 and 20:00; staying in cool places whenever possible; wearing light and breathable clothing; and paying special attention to the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses.
It is also advised to protect homes from heat by keeping blinds and awnings down during peak sunlight hours and taking advantage of the early morning and evening to ventilate. It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption and reduce sugary or caffeinated drinks.

Extreme fire risk
Low humidity and dry vegetation, combined with high temperatures, keep the fire danger at elevated levels. The wildfire risk map released by Emergencies 112 of the Community of Madrid for this Friday establishes the maximum level of extreme risk in the region.
In this context, the need to take precautions and avoid any behaviour that could cause a fire is reiterated, especially in forested areas and nearby zones. Cigarette butts and waste should not be thrown on the ground, nor should activities that involve the use of fire or could generate sparks be conducted.
If smoke, fire, or any possible signs of fire are detected, it is essential to immediately notify 112 and follow the instructions of emergency services.
Regular air quality
This morning, air quality is at regular levels, according to the latest data from the Air Quality Network of the Community of Madrid. The records show a concentration of 34 µg/m³ of nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), 89 µg/m³ of tropospheric ozone (O₃), and 41 µg/m³ of PM10 particles.
High temperatures and intense solar radiation can favour an increase in tropospheric ozone concentrations during the hottest hours of the day. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid intense physical exercise and prolonged outdoor activities between 12:00 and 20:00, especially for children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular diseases.
Inside homes, it is advised to keep windows closed during the hottest hours of the day and ventilate in the early or late hours of the day. If symptoms such as eye or throat irritation, coughing, or difficulty breathing occur, it is advisable to reduce physical activity and stay indoors.
