AEMET forecasts heavy rainfall and storms in the Sierra de Madrid on Saturday, October 17. Civil Protection of the Community of Madrid has activated the yellow level and urges extreme caution.
The yellow level, which indicates a moderate risk, will be active between 06:00 and 20:00 hours on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The General Directorate of Civil Protection of the Community of Madrid has issued it due to Adverse Meteorological Phenomena following the prediction from AEMET.
The warning affects the Sierra de Madrid. Rainfall may accumulate up to 15 mm in one hour and strong storms are expected, with the possibility of locally higher intensities. The probability of occurrence is estimated to be between 40 and 70 %.
On the roads, Civil Protection advises reducing speed and increasing safety distance due to water pools on the roadway.
In the mountains and countryside, it recommends avoiding outdoor activities in elevated areas, not taking shelter under isolated trees, and staying away from streams, channels, and gullies, which may experience sudden flooding.
In homes, it advises keeping downspouts and drains clean and securing items on terraces and gardens that may be affected by heavy rain.
