The Town Hall of San Martín de la Vega is organising a free event in Alcalá de Henares on 26 October for elderly people from six municipalities. It is aimed at around 200 people.
The Town Hall of San Martín de la Vega, through the Las Vegas Social Services Consortium, is organising a day of social interaction on 26 October 2026 in Alcalá de Henares aimed at people over 60 years old. Around 200 people from the six municipalities that make up the consortium will participate.
The event aims to foster social relationships, promote active ageing, and prevent unwanted loneliness. It is part of the Community of Madrid's Network for Supporting the Elderly in Loneliness. Residents from San Martín de la Vega, Ciempozuelos, Morata de Tajuña, Chinchón, Villaconejos, and Titulcia will attend.
The day will start with a guided tour of the historic centre of Alcalá de Henares. Afterwards, participants will share lunch at a restaurant. The visit, the meal, and the other activities are free for attendees.
After lunch, there will be a discussion on unwanted loneliness, one of the main themes of the event. According to the organisers, the space will serve to share experiences and reflect on how to prevent isolation through closeness.
Unwanted loneliness requires a close and shared response. From the administrations, we must facilitate meeting and support spaces, also involving the community.
The president of the Las Vegas Social Services Consortium, Javier Pizarro, made these statements. Pizarro noted that listening to and maintaining contact with those around us can make a difference in their well-being.
The day will conclude with leisure activities, including a bingo game and a musical space.
