Cyclist José Luis Medranda Takes Valdeolmos-Alalpardo to Japan

Cyclist and resident of Valdeolmos-Alalpardo, José Luis Medranda, has competed in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship 2026 in Niseko (Japan), proudly displaying the municipality's emblem on his kit.

The cyclist and resident of Valdeolmos-Alalpardo, José Luis Medranda, has taken the name of the municipality to Japan. He did so by wearing the emblem of the Town Hall on his shirt during the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship 2026, held in the city of Niseko.

Medranda crossed the finish line in 50th place in his category, the Men's Master 60-64 years, with a final time of 2 hours, 31 minutes and 26 seconds. The course was 76.2 kilometers through a very tough mountainous circuit, in an event that brought together the best amateur cyclists from 65 countries.

The cyclist competed with the number 2036 and wore an official kit sponsored by the Valdeolmos-Alalpardo Town Hall. The town council has publicly congratulated the athlete for his achievement.

Medranda's next challenge will be the European Granfondo Championship, which will take place in Varese (Italy) on October 4.
