The Plaza del Campillo in Gargantilla del Lozoya will be the setting, next Friday, September 25 at 19:00, for the presentation of the book 'Mural de resistencia. Poetry for equality and redress', by Ángeles Fernangómez. The event will include remarks from the mayor of Gargantilla del Lozoya and Pinilla de Buitrago, Rafael García Gutiérrez, along with the cultural animator Vanessa Panelli McDowall and Miguel Ángel Hernández from QuerER Editorial.

The book was created in response to the attack on the feminist mural in the La Concepción neighbourhood, in the Madrid district of Ciudad Lineal, on March 8, 2021, when the artwork was covered in black. The author transformed that episode into a poetry collection that advocates for memory and equality.

When they try to erase an image, we can also bring it back to life with words,” the organization states about the meaning of the work.

The event, which is free to enter until capacity is reached, is part of the cultural programming of the municipality and aims to bring poetry closer as a tool for reflection on equality.
