On Monday 19 October, at 19:00 hours, the Luisa Carnés Library in Coslada will host a collective reading of selected texts to commemorate Writers' Day. The Libraries area of the Coslada City Council is participating in the eleventh edition of this initiative, organised by the National Library of Spain, FEDEPE, and Clásicas y Modernas.
The curator of this edition is the editor Christina Linares, who has chosen the motto “Friends as a form of freedom.” The celebration is dedicated to the centenary of the founding of the Lyceum Club Femenino, a pioneering institution in the intellectual, cultural, and social participation of women in Spain.
The delegated councillor for Culture in Coslada, Emi Escudero, explained the following:
With this eleventh edition, the Coslada City Council reaffirms our commitment to recovering the literary memory of women and recognising those writers who, like the members of the Lyceum Club Femenino, decisively contributed to expanding spaces of freedom, thought, and creation for future generations.
In addition to the reading, Coslada will host an exhibition on the Lyceum Club Femenino and other activities related to the centenary in the coming months. The date and location of the exhibition have not been specified in the available information.
