María José Pampín Bugallo's work 'Incertidumbre' has won the XXVI San Lorenzo de El Escorial Engraving Prize, worth €1,200. The second prize went to 'El huerto del fraile' by Nuria Español Martínez.
The San Lorenzo de El Escorial Town Hall has announced the results of the XXVI Engraving Prize, a competition that has established itself as a key event for graphic art in the Community of Madrid. The winning work, ‘Incertidumbre’, by María José Pampín Bugallo, will receive a prize of €1,200.
The second prize, worth €600, was awarded to ‘El huerto del fraile’ by Nuria Español Martínez. Additionally, the jury has granted three honourable mentions: ‘Trazos de naturaleza’ by Carmen Isasi; ‘Luminiscencia II’ by Javier ROZ (José Javier Rodríguez Sánchez); and ‘Estratos’ by Juan Antonio Martín Arias.
The awarded works, the mentions, and the pieces selected by the jury will be on display at the Interior Exhibition Hall of the Casa de Cultura in San Lorenzo de El Escorial from 7 to 28 August. The exhibition includes a total of 19 engravings selected, featuring titles such as ‘7 árboles azules’ by José Manuel Rodríguez de Córdoba; ‘Lilu’ by Francisco Jesús Benitez Durán; and ‘No te preocupes por nada’ by Javier Abad Alonso.
The exhibition will be open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 20:30, and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:30. The hall will be closed on Monday 10 and Saturday 15 August.
This competition, now in its 26th edition, aims to highlight the work of artists dedicated to engraving and other printing techniques, and has become a platform to showcase new proposals within this discipline.
