The Virgin's Descent, at 14:00 in the chapel of Our Lady of the Saints, opens the Grand Day of the Patron Saint's Festivities in Móstoles. The weekend includes concerts by Rosario Flores, Antonio Carmona, Francisco, Tamara, and Cepeda, as well as a double bull run and recortadores.
Móstoles celebrates this weekend the Patron Saint's Festivities in honour of Our Lady of the Saints and Saint Simón de Rojas, with September 12 as the Grand Day. The programme, organised by the City Council through the Department of Mobility, Transport, Consumption, and Festivities, combines liturgical events, music, children's activities, and bull-related activities.
The central moment will be the Virgin's Descent, at 14:00 in the chapel of Our Lady of the Saints. The image of the patroness will descend from her niche to the float via rails to the sound of the Salve being sung. The liturgical day will be completed with the Solemn Mass and the procession of Our Lady of the Saints and Saint Simón de Rojas.
Music will take place on various stages throughout the municipality. In the Finca Liana Park, in the fountain area, the Flamenco-Fusion Night will be held at 21:30 featuring Rosario Flores, Antonio Carmona, and Marshall Ventura, creator of technoflamenco. In the tent area, the orchestra Venecia will perform from 22:00. In the Plaza del Pradillo, at 22:30, Francisco and Tamara will offer a joint concert featuring their most popular songs.
For children, on September 12 there will be "Rockilandia", from Rock en Familia, from 12:00 to 15:00 at the Liana Carpas stage during the Vermú Hour of the Day Fair. The festival "Between Cabbage and Cabbage a Song" will be performed at the Puppet Theatre of Finca Liana in two sessions, at 18:00 and 19:30.
On Sunday September 13, popular breakfasts will kick off at 9:00 in the Plaza de España. At 11:00, a double bull run and release of cattle is scheduled, and at 13:00, the cart bull run organised by the El Toro de Móstoles Association. In the afternoon, at 20:00, the bullring will host the National Recortadores Tournament "Champion of Champions", featuring bulls from the Francisco Galache ranch.
Also on Sunday, at 10:30, a Rociera Mass will be held in the Plaza del Pradillo. At 20:00, the School of Actors under the direction of Yllana will recreate the Route of the Virgin from the Cuartel Huerta Park to the chapel of Our Lady of the Saints.
The music on Sunday includes the Forever 90's Party by Kiss FM at the Liana Fuentes stage at 20:00, the orchestra Panther at Liana Carpas at 21:00, and a concert by the Galician singer-songwriter Cepeda at the Pradillo stage at 21:30. For families, there will be a Family Disco in the Plaza del Pradillo and the festival "The Musicians of Bremen" at the Puppet Theatre of Finca Liana at 18:00.
