The Móstoles City Council offers this week original version films, family cinema, a jazz show for children, and literary presentations in various sociocultural centres and libraries in the municipality.
The Education and Culture Department of the Móstoles City Council has scheduled several cultural activities for this week, including original version films, family cinema, jazz for the little ones, and book presentations. The proposals are spread across the Norte-Universidad Sociocultural Centre, the El Soto Sociocultural Centre, the Joan Miró Sociocultural Centre, the Almudena Grandes Central Library, and the Teatro del Soto.
As part of the Filmoteca cycle, on Wednesday September 23, the film “The Secret Agent (O Agente Secreto, 2025)” will be screened at 18:30 at the Norte-Universidad Sociocultural Centre. The Brazilian film, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho and starring Wagner Moura, follows Marcelo, a teacher who, during the military dictatorship, flees from his past and returns to Recife to reunite with his son.
Literature will have two events on Friday September 25. At 18:30, the writer Javier López Cazalla presents his poetry book “To Infinity and Back” at the Almudena Grandes Central Library. The book is presented as a literary refuge and a bridge between who we are and who we long to be, with light and darkness intertwined through reflection. Later, at 19:30, the El Soto Sociocultural Centre will host the presentation of “Children Who See Beyond”, by local writer Olga Nitya López. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
On the weekend of September 26 and 27, it will be the turn of the Family Cinema cycle with the screening of “Smurfs”. The film will be shown on Saturday at 18:00 at the El Soto Sociocultural Centre; on Sunday at 12:00 at the Norte-Universidad Sociocultural Centre and at 18:00 at the Joan Miró Sociocultural Centre. This animated musical tells how Smurfette tries to save the real world, along with her friends, after Papa Smurf is kidnapped by the wizards Razamel and Gargamel.
The agenda is completed with “Jazz for Children”, a family jazz show that Escena offers on Sunday September 27 at 12:30 at the Teatro del Soto. Created in 2017 by Noa Lur, it is an interactive and educational performance that invites children to listen, sing, dance, and scat. The band reached number 1 on iTunes with their first album in 2018 and has toured national festivals and theatres.
To Infinity and Back is much more than a book of poems; it is a literary refuge and an invisible bridge between who we are and who we long to be,” according to the presentation of the work.
To attend the film screenings and the jazz show, it is recommended to check the municipal website or the centres themselves, as capacity is limited for some activities. The literary presentations are free until capacity is reached.
