Rivas Hosts the FESCI Film Festival on October 3 Under the Motto 'I Am Woman'

The Independent Film Festival (FESCI) returns to Rivas-Vaciamadrid for the second year with the theme 'I Am Woman'. The event will take place on Saturday, October 3 at 18:30 in the municipal building Atrio's auditorium.

The Independent Film Festival (FESCI) is back in Rivas-Vaciamadrid for the second consecutive year. The event will be held on Saturday, October 3 starting at 18:30 in the auditorium of the municipal building Atrio. The festival repeats last year's theme, under the title 'I Am Woman'.

The programme will kick off with a discussion featuring women talking about their work in film, music, and literature. According to Jerónimo Cabrera, the film director and producer responsible for FESCI alongside Jesús Puente, the meeting will address "the current situation of women in their artistic environment, as well as their evolution."

FESCI's main mission is to support independent cinema. Cinema is culture, and through the festival we highlight the work of those involved in this sector who, with more or less resources, need a space, and if it's on a big screen, even better, to showcase their audiovisual pieces and artistic creations

After the discussion, writer Amira Dubb, author of 'The Traps of the Subconscious', will offer a narrative session of several poems accompanied by the violin of Encarni García. Following this, short films and music videos created, produced, or performed by women will be screened, featuring diverse styles, including works by Bárbara Banú and the group Daga. Part of the programme was still pending confirmation at the time of writing this information.

The festival has two years of history and has taken place in municipalities such as Alcorcón, Villaluenga de la Sagra, Villaverde, Leganés, Mejorada del Campo, Rivas, Navalcarnero, and Villar del Olmo. Its organisers explain that throughout its journey it has incorporated theatre and literature, "creating a diverse mix within the cultural spectrum."

Entry to the festival is free until capacity is reached, and the event will take place in the auditorium of the Atrio building in Rivas-Vaciamadrid on Saturday, October 3 from 18:30.
