The Federico García Lorca cultural centre in Rivas-Vaciamadrid hosts a photographic exhibition on workplace accidents until November 16. It can be visited from Monday to Friday.

The central courtyard of the Federico García Lorca cultural centre in Rivas-Vaciamadrid hosts until November 16 the exhibition “Workplace Accidents: An Avoidable Tragedy”, organised by the UGT union. The photographs are by Antonio Velázquez and focus on the prevention of occupational risks.

The exhibition can be viewed from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 20:30. According to the organisers, the aim is to remind that each workplace accident affects specific individuals.

UGT states: “The number of workplace accidents recorded in Spain each year is unmanageable for a modern society like ours.”

The union also warns of the risks of new forms of work and the demographic, digital, and climate transitions, which are already affecting the health of workers. Among these, it cites mental health issues caused or exacerbated by work.

It is essential to consider the skyrocketing increase in mental health problems caused or aggravated by work.

From the union's headquarters, they call for a change in the preventive culture within companies and effective public policies on workplace safety and health. For UGT, preventing and raising awareness is the way to save lives, and that is the message they want to convey through the exhibition in Rivas-Vaciamadrid.
