The Pezuela de las Torres Town Hall is seeking community proposals to decorate the Municipal Pavilion as part of the regional programme 'Walls with Life'. The submission period will be open from 24 August to 11 September.
The Town Hall of Pezuela de las Torres has launched a sketch competition to choose the design of a mural that will decorate the exterior wall of the Municipal Pavilion, measuring 9.80 x 3.20 metres. This initiative is part of the “Walls with Life” programme from the Community of Madrid, which supports municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants with grants to create urban art in spaces visible from public roads.
The council wants the submitted proposal to represent the essence of the locality and its residents. Therefore, participants can draw inspiration from cultural and historical heritage, landscapes, traditions, a sense of belonging, or community coexistence, among other elements.
No professional artist is required: sketches can be created by hand, digitally, through a photograph, or with artificial intelligence, in black and white or in colour, always in a horizontal format and to scale. Each work must be accompanied by the name, age, and contact details of the author.
The submission period begins on 24 August and ends on 11 September at 12:00 hours. Proposals can be sent digitally to laposada@pezueladelastorres.com or delivered in person at the Cultural Centre La Posada, from 17:00 to 20:00 hours, and at the Town Hall, from 9:00 to 13:00 hours.
The selected sketch may be adapted for presentation to the Community of Madrid. If the municipality is awarded the grant, the design will be transformed into a real mural on the exterior of the Municipal Pavilion. Additionally, all submitted works will be part of the exhibition “Pezuela, its essence in images”, which will be held at the Cultural Centre La Posada.
