The Fairs and Festivals of Alcalá de Henares 2026 begin this Saturday with the opening speech from the APHISA Association. The programme includes over 350 activities, with music, children, and groups as the main highlights.
The Fairs and Festivals of Alcalá de Henares 2026 officially kick off this Saturday with the offering from the groups and the opening speech from the balcony of the Town Hall, delivered by the APHISA Association, dedicated to intellectual disabilities. The festive programme includes over 350 activities for all audiences across all districts.
The inaugural day will start at 19:15 hours with a floral offering to the Christ of the Groups at the Church of the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites, on calle Imagen. Following this, the presentation of the Festival Ladies will take place in the Plenary Hall, and the banner of the groups will be placed on the town hall balcony. The opening speech will occur at 21:45 hours, followed by a free concert by Efecto Pasillo in Plaza de Cervantes at 23:45 hours.
The cultural offerings of the first Saturday include theatre with “La Pasión Infinita”, starring Pepón Nieto, and a double showing of “Aldonza La Encarada” (at 19:30 and 21:00 hours) on the monumental staircase of the Escolapias, presented by the company A Scena Teatro.
The groups, once again, will be the soul of the festivities with nearly 130 activities involving music, sports, games, and solidarity actions. This Saturday, they will kick off with the II Nordic Walking Circuit through the Historic Centre, a parade with a marching band, the XXXIX election of Mister Damo (at 19:30 hours), and musical activities from groups such as Los Gladiadores, Los Bufones, Los Doblones, or El Juglar.
The fairground at Isla del Colegio will open its doors this Friday afternoon and will be the epicentre of the festivities. Also this Friday, at 20:00 hours, the Day Fair will begin in Plaza de Cervantes.
The little ones will have a special role, with inflatables in all districts from Sunday 23 to Saturday 29 August. The Casita del O’Donnell will host environmental awareness activities, and the water slide on the slope next to the Gilitos Cultural Centre will once again be one of the favourite attractions.
Music will be another major draw with the cycle ‘The Concerts of the Wall’ in the Huerta del Obispo: Loquillo on Saturday 22, the Muralla Pop Fest with tributes on the 27th, Fangoria on the 28th, and Vanesa Martín on the 29th. The Sementales park, for the second consecutive year, will host music every night with local artists and themed nights.
The Teatro Salón Cervantes will offer a notable programme, with “Better Not to Say It” starring Imanol Arias and María Barranco on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30, as well as shows by Yllana and the Alcalá Comedy Show monologue cycle. The Teatro Independiente Alcalaíno will present ‘Dream and Defence of the Eye of C…’ on Sunday 30 in the Patio of Santo Tomás de Villanueva.
The Nights of the Patio in the Cisneriana will open with the Flamenco Ballet of Cristian Pérez on Sunday 23 and continue with the Spanish Dance Company Camino de Vuelta. Neighbours will be able to enjoy the festivities in their neighbourhoods with parades of Giants and Bigheads, which will traverse the five districts of the city.
The programme will extend until 30 August, with activities for all tastes and ages.
