Tres Cantos proposes 'Refreshing Reads' in its libraries for the summer

The municipal libraries of Tres Cantos launch 'Refreshing Reads', with guides such as Summer Books and Ola de Libros for all ages, and extend loans to 45 days until August 15.

The network of municipal libraries in Tres Cantos has launched its summer campaign 'Refreshing Reads', a selection of literary recommendations designed for residents to continue enjoying reading during the holidays. The initiative includes proposals for all ages, from 3 years old to adults.

Among the new features is Summer Books, a guide aimed at Secondary and Baccalaureate students with titles of novels, comics, and graphic narratives classified by age groups (+12, +14, and +16 years). The selection covers genres such as adventure, fantasy, mystery, science fiction, historical novels, and contemporary narratives.

For the youngest, aged 3 to 12 years, Ola de Libros is available, a guide with recommendations tailored to each reading stage. Both guides include QR codes and direct links to the library catalog, allowing users to check the availability of copies and locate them easily.

Additionally, the network of libraries in the municipality offers monthly literary recommendations for adults, teenagers, and children, including comics, digital books, reading guides, and media library content. All this information is available on the Tres Cantos public libraries website.

The Tres Cantos City Council has also extended the loan period during the summer: until August 15, books can be borrowed for 45 days, compared to the usual 30. Users can borrow up to six books, six CDs or films for 15 days, and three magazines for the same period.

Regarding opening hours, during this month only the Lope de Vega Library remains open, providing morning service until August 16. The Fundación Caja Madrid Library will be closed until August 30.

The Councillor for Culture, Elisa Lidia Miguel, has stated that “we want the municipal libraries of Tres Cantos to continue being a cultural reference even in summer, offering recommendations for all audiences.” She also highlighted that “reading is an excellent way to enjoy free time, and the municipal libraries provide residents with all the necessary resources to make it possible.”
