The September Plenary approves the modification of the Mobility Ordinance to adapt it to the new General Traffic Regulation. The rule sets 15 years as the minimum age for VMP and makes helmets mandatory.
The Ordinary Plenary of September in Tres Cantos approved this Tuesday the partial modification of the Municipal Ordinance on Mobility and Circulation to adapt it to the new General Traffic Regulation. The proposal, presented by the Popular Municipal Group, was passed with 16 votes in favour and 8 abstentions.
The Ordinance had been definitively approved in February, but the subsequent modification of the General Traffic Regulation required a review of several articles to align them with the state framework.
The main change affects personal mobility vehicles (VMP), such as electric scooters. The rule sets the minimum age for riding them at 15 years, establishes the mandatory use of helmets, and reinforces visibility and lighting conditions.
The modification also updates the regulation of motorhomes and other vehicles adapted as housing, and reviews exclusion zones for the transport of goods over 12 tonnes, in order to protect residential roads and those with a higher presence of pedestrians.
In the same session, the Socialist Municipal Group presented a motion on actions regarding public education that included a contribution from the Municipal Group For Tres Cantos. The proposal was rejected. The Popular Group justified their vote by stating that the measures included had already been implemented by the municipal government or were in the process of being implemented.
The modification of the Mobility Ordinance comes into effect once published, according to the usual procedures for this type of local regulations.
