The gardens of the Casa de Cultura in Valdemorillo will host the inauguration of the sculpture 'Man Tree', created by the artist Héctor Delgado Millán, on Saturday 19th September. The event will start at 7 PM and entry is free until capacity is reached.
The piece, three metres tall and 4.5 metres wide, is made of iron and incorporates glass elements. According to the Town Hall, these glass fragments refer to the old factory that occupied the same space where the cultural centre now stands.
The sculptor, born in Madrid in 1971 and holding a doctorate in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, has created the work specifically for Valdemorillo. In it, the leaves represent nature and growth, in line with his idea that "every tree we have around us can hold the energy of a previous life".

The Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Victoria Gil, has indicated that the installation allows "art to greet us and welcome us at the entrance of our cultural centre". Gil has described the piece as "surprising and significant" for connecting nature, humanity, and culture.
Delgado primarily works with stone and follows a neo-Romanesque and primitivist style, where the pieces retain the marks of the chisel. His connection to the cultural activity of the municipality is reinforced with this installation.
The inauguration event will include a showcase of other works by the sculptor and a performance prepared for the occasion. The sculpture will be permanently installed in the gardens of the Casa de Cultura in Valdemorillo.
