The Chapinería City Council brings freelancers and SMEs information about the subsidies from the Community of Madrid to recover digital equipment and systems damaged by the fire in July. The aid can reach up to €5,000 per beneficiary.
The Chapinería City Council has launched an information campaign so that freelancers, micro-enterprises, and small businesses in the municipality are aware of the new line of aid from the Community of Madrid aimed at the digital recovery of businesses affected by the forest fires in July. The subsidy can cover up to 100% of the eligible expenses, with a limit of €5,000 per beneficiary.
The measure aims for businesses to replace or restore the essential technological resources for their activity: computer equipment, connectivity, management systems, sales terminals, data, cloud services, or cybersecurity tools. This is not a general aid for digitalisation, but an extraordinary line directly linked to the damages, the interruption of activity, a temporary relocation, or the continuity needs arising from the emergency.
Eligible actions include cleaning, replacement or acquisition of computer equipment, installation or relocation of networks and connectivity, replacement of applications and licenses, data recovery and backups, creation or restoration of websites and online stores, as well as cybersecurity measures such as antivirus or multi-factor authentication. Temporary installations, teleworking or equipment rental, and professional diagnostic or repair services are also included.
Expenses must be directly related to the fire or to the evacuation, confinement, or access restriction measures adopted, and must be incurred between July 22 and October 31, 2026. The call is resolved through competitive bidding, meaning that the priority of applications is determined by the date and time they are completed, provided that the requirements are met and there is available funding.
The regulations also allow for replacing damaged equipment with equivalent current technology when repair is not possible or is uneconomical, as long as the upgrade is proportionate to the recovery needs. The Chapinería City Council considers it a priority for freelancers and traders in the municipality to access all available resources, so the Council will actively provide information and support, bringing the aid directly to the residents.
The recovery of the municipality not only involves repairing material damages but also reactivating economic activity and facilitating businesses to operate again with the necessary tools.
