The 2026/2027 school year has begun this Monday at Juan Falcó School with 544 students, of whom 156 are in Early Childhood Education and 14 in Special Education. The centre celebrates 25 years of a pioneering model in this teaching.
Juan Falcó School in Valdemorillo opened its doors this Monday for the 2026/2027 school year with 544 students, of whom 156 are enrolled in Early Childhood Education and 14 in Special Education. The centre has welcomed over a dozen new teachers, bringing the total number of educators to over fifty.
This year the school celebrates 25 years of providing a teaching model in the Special Education classrooms that made Valdemorillo a pioneer and a reference in the schooling of these students. This was noted by the mayor, Santiago Villena, during the welcome to the students.
The mayor also highlighted the collaboration of the Town Hall, which "brings the work of the Local Police Tutor Agents closer, especially for the prevention of bullying and other conflicts." The City Council also continues the swimming pool project for 3rd and 5th grade students, subsidising this activity, and continues with pottery workshops for 4th and 6th grades, linked to local tradition.
The principal, Susana Elías, addressed families and the school community to wish them a happy school year and to thank the Town Hall for their support. Together with the Councillor for Community Services, Ana Patricia González, the head of studies and the teaching staff, Villena officially inaugurated the school period.
The facilities have been renovated over the summer with an investment of over €200,000, which included air conditioning in the dining room, new partitions, plumbing and locksmith repairs, and the painting of outdoor tables, playground lines, and railings. "There are still some works to be completed with the replacement of the windows in Building F, which will be done shortly," the mayor pointed out.
Villena also announced that the Community of Madrid will soon undertake works to waterproof and rehabilitate the entire Building A. "We continue to strive to ensure that our students have educational facilities that fully meet their needs," he explained, "because investing in education is investing in the best future for our town."
