The Villar del Olmo Town Council has carried out three projects at CRA Vega del Tajuña funded by the Regional Investment Programme. The works, completed before the start of the school year, include rubber flooring in the playground and damp repairs.

Students at CRA Vega del Tajuña in Villar del Olmo have started the school year with improvements made by the Town Council during the summer at the centre. The works are part of the conservation and improvement initiative for public schools in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants launched by the Community of Madrid.

The total investment amounts to €105,000, fully funded by the Regional Investment Programme (PIR). The work has been completed before the return to classes.

The most visible improvement has been the installation of a continuous rubber floor in the back playground, transforming 404 square metres of earth into a suitable surface for recreation and outdoor activities. This enhancement, valued at €27,980, recovers a space that had previously been underutilised.

Additionally, waterproofing and repairs have been carried out on terraces, damp areas, and other deteriorated elements, along with work on the wall and access ramp and covering the existing drainage channel. These works have cost €47,650 and resolve a problem that the centre had been facing for years.

Both projects add to the one carried out in the summer of 2025, costing €28,870, which allowed for the reorganisation of the space for the first cycle of Early Childhood Education through a mobile acoustic panel to divide the classroom, renewing the lighting with lower consumption LED panels, and separating electrical circuits.

We continue to improve our school and in this goal, the support of the Community of Madrid has been essential, with an investment of over €100,000, which has allowed us to tackle these three necessary projects," explained the mayor, Lucila Toledo, during her visit to the centre to check the completion of the works.

The works are now finished, and the students of Villar del Olmo have been enjoying them since the start of the school year.
