The Community of Madrid has opened the application period for urgent rental assistance aimed at those affected by the July fires in the Sierra Oeste. Chapinería is among the municipalities included in this grant scheme.
Individuals who temporarily lost their primary residence due to the forest fires in July 2026 in the Sierra Oeste, including residents of Chapinería, can apply from September 5 for urgent assistance to cover the rent of a temporary housing solution.
The grant, called by the Community of Madrid, covers up to 100% of the rental cost with a limit of €1,500 per month for a maximum of 12 months. Payment is made in two advance installments of up to six months each, with a total maximum amount of €18,000.
Eligible applicants are individuals over 18 years old whose permanent and habitual residence has been damaged by fire and is uninhabitable. It is necessary to have signed a rental contract for a new home, serviced apartment, or cohabitation arrangement with an effective date after July 24, 2026.
Applicants must have Spanish nationality, or be from the European Union, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland. Non-EU foreign nationals must prove their regular stay or residence status in Spain with the appropriate permit or foreign identity card (TIE).
The application period will remain open until November 15, 2026. Applications can be submitted in person or electronically, in the latter case using an electronic signature system recognised by the Community of Madrid.
Required documentation includes the rental contract for the new home, a bank certificate proving account ownership for the deposit, and, if applicable, the residence permit. All official information and access to the process are available on the electronic headquarters of the Community of Madrid.
