The recipients of the 51 public housing units on Paseo de la Estación have begun visiting their future homes. The handover of keys is scheduled for November, according to the Getafe City Council.
The 51 public housing units promoted by the Getafe City Council through the Municipal Company of Land and Housing (EMSV) on Paseo de la Estación are nearing completion. The recipients, both buyers and renters, have started visiting the properties over the last week, and the handover of keys is expected next month in November.
Of the total, 28 units are for purchase and 23 are for rent. The mayor, Sara Hernández, has accompanied some of the residents during these visits and noted that the recipients express "the immense happiness and gratitude that the fortunate feel when seeing their life project realised in their own city".
In contrast to a privatising model from the Community of Madrid, in Getafe rental housing will continue to be part of the public stock in the future, ensuring prices below the market so that our young people can become independent with the best quality without having to move to other municipalities
The City Council is finalising the administrative procedures for the building's opening. It has already requested the two necessary responsible declarations, one for the occupancy of the units and another for the operation of the garage. In parallel, it is processing the final qualification for public protection.
The building has an energy rating of A, with nearly zero consumption, aerothermal heating, heat recovery ventilation, and photovoltaic panels. The public rent will not exceed 13.77 euros per square metre, with an average area of over 75 square metres and no IBI charges to tenants. According to the City Council, promotions from the Community of Madrid have a monthly cost exceeding 14.32 euros per square metre, with less area and energy efficiency, and charge IBI separately.
The handover of keys is scheduled for November, once the pending procedures are completed.
