The Municipal Housing Company (EMV) of Rivas-Vaciamadrid has started the rehabilitation works of the Posada del Alcalde, a historic building located in the old town of the municipality. The project, financed through the Investment and Financing Action Plan (PAIF), has an investment of 600,000 euros and an execution period of eight months.
The reform aims to preserve municipal heritage and put the property to use. According to the EMV, the works will reinforce the structural safety of the building and adapt it to current regulations. Energy efficiency and the environmental conditions inside will also be improved, and a lift will be installed to connect the three floors to enhance accessibility.
The project maintains the characteristic elements and overall aesthetics of this unique building, which was acquired by the Rivas City Council for its rehabilitation. Among the planned actions, the establishment of a 54-square-metre multipurpose room in the basement is noteworthy, intended for municipal uses, while the ground floor, with over 200 square metres, is reserved for its traditional hospitality use. The final conditioning of this space will depend on the restoration proposal that is incorporated.
On the first floor, a large multipurpose room of 141 square metres will be created, which will be a core space for public activity in the neighbourhood. The works are part of the Rivas Urban Agenda 2030.
