The municipality celebrates a weekend of pre-festivities on September 5 and 6 with sports, music, and activities for seniors. The XXVIII Bicycle Festival and the Los 40 Urban Party are the highlights.
Galapagar is celebrating this weekend, September 5 and 6, a programme of activities leading up to its Patron Saint Festivities 2026, which will begin on September 10. Sports and music will dominate the agenda, with events such as the XXVIII Bicycle Festival and the Los 40 Urban Party.
On Saturday, activities will kick off at 7:30 AM with the XXII Memorial Pepe Gómez, a cycling schools trophy that will run until 1:30 PM on Avenida de los Voluntarios and Calle Montecillo. The event is organised by the Galapagar Cycling Club and the Madrid Cycling Federation, with registrations at www.fmciclismo.com.
At 9:00 AM, the Individual Petanque Championship (registration: 5 euros, at 650 27 54 90 or agoncer18@gmail.com) and the Archery Festival Tournament (15 euros, registrations at competiciones.club10@gmail.com) will begin. The first will take place on the petanque and chito courts in El Toril park; the second will be at the El Barrizal shooting range, until 4:00 PM.
On Saturday, there will also be two chito throws in El Toril: the Chito Throw at 12:00 PM and the Children's Chito Throw at 6:00 PM, both free with registration 30 minutes prior.
Saturday night will be dedicated to music with the Los 40 Urban Party Festival, from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM in the Plaza de la Constitución, with free entry. Performers will include JØL and TATE, winners of the 2026 Young Groups Festival; also Lucía de la Puerta, Dellacruz, Gutta, and Nacho Nacif. The presenter will be Ramsés López, “El Faraón”, DJ and host of LOS40 Urban.
On Sunday, cycling will again take centre stage with the IV GP Sergio Martín (cadet category, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, starting on Calle de la Inclusión, next to the Tasio Greciano velodrome) and the XXVIII Bicycle Festival, which will depart at 11:30 AM from the same street with a 5-kilometre route and free participation.
Also on Sunday, the XXXIX Regional Chito Throw for Pairs (10:00 AM, in El Toril, free) and the Social Table Tennis Tournament (from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Municipal Sports Centre, 10 euros, organised by CDE Élite Tenis Galapagar) will take place.
The Fiesta de Nuestros Mayores will close the weekend on Sunday. It is aimed at seniors over 70 years old with limited places: at 12:30 PM there will be a thanksgiving mass, at 2:30 PM a meal at Restaurante Trinidad, and at 3:30 PM a musical performance. The bus will leave from the Town Hall shelter at 2:00 PM.
Invitations for this activity are free and can be collected until September 4, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Casa del Mayor.
