The La Pocilla Cultural Centre hosts an Aularte programme from October 2026 to June 2027, divided into four independent trimesters, with sessions on Thursdays and prices of 68 and 35 euros.
Galapagar will feature a new Art History programme at the La Pocilla Cultural Centre during the 2026-2027 academic year. The proposal is delivered by Aularte, a contemporary school of art and culture, and the sessions are led by art historian Amparo Duñaiturria.
The course is divided into four independent trimesters, each with its own theme. Classes will be held on Thursdays, from 18:00 to 19:30, in the Conference Room of the cultural centre.
The first trimester, titled “Face and Cross in Art. Rivalries, Analogies and Crimes”, runs from 15 October to 10 December 2026 and explores artistic rivalries from Antiquity to the Baroque period.
The second part, “Face and Cross in Art 2. Confrontations, Affinities and Disagreements”, takes place from 14 January to 4 March 2027 and focuses on the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. This trimester includes a visit to the National Museum of Prado to view some of the issues discussed in class in front of the artworks.
The third block, from 1 April to 20 May 2027, is titled “When Works Dialogue. A Cross-sectional Look at Artists, Styles and Periods” and proposes comparisons between creators from different periods, such as Gaudí and Arcimboldo, Caravaggio and Goya, Turner and Monet, or Picasso and El Greco.
The programme concludes with “The Crimes of Art. Thefts, Looting and Forgeries”, from 27 May to 17 June 2027. In four sessions, well-known cases of thefts, forgeries, and looting are addressed, alongside historical, legal, and political issues regarding the protection and restitution of artworks.
The first three trimesters consist of eight sessions and cost 68 euros each. The last one has four sessions and a price of 35 euros.
