The municipality organizes activities for all ages from September 18 to 19, with special attention to the safety of electric scooters.
Manzanares el Real joins once again the European Mobility Week 2026 with a programme of activities taking place on September 18 and 19. The Mobility Department has prepared participatory proposals such as the Bike to School initiative, training workshops, and an orienteering gymkhana, aiming to promote more sustainable modes of transport.
This year, the Town Council places special emphasis on the road safety of Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs). It reminds electric scooter users of the obligation to wear a certified helmet, have visible lighting and reflective elements in low visibility conditions, as well as possessing the technical certification and the mandatory insurance in force. It also highlights the prohibition of riding on sidewalks and pedestrian areas, the speed limit of 25 km/h, the ban on using headphones or mobile phones, and the condition that each scooter must be single-rider.
On Friday, September 18, the Bike to School initiative, organized by the AFA of Virgen de Peña Sacra, will kick off. At 08:40 hours, participants will meet at the Plaza del Pueblo to ride their bicycles to each educational centre, promoting sustainable mobility among the youngest.
On the same day, at 18:30 hours, an orienteering race for all ages will be held, starting from the Plaza del Pueblo and covering the town centre. Participants will need to navigate the town with a map, locate checkpoints, and complete a road safety test. Registration can be done by sending an email to participacion.ciudadana@manzanareselreal.es or in person.
On Saturday, September 19, the Avenida de Madrid will be closed to traffic for the entire day to convert it into a pedestrian space. Between 11:00 and 13:30 hours, the association Pedalibre will conduct a workshop on how to ride a bicycle safely at Avenida de Madrid, 2. It is necessary to bring a bicycle and helmet.
At the same place and time, from 11:30 to 13:30 hours, El Gato con Mota will offer a practical workshop on basic bicycle maintenance, teaching skills such as inflating tires or adjusting brakes and gears. It is also necessary to attend with a bicycle and helmet.
In the afternoon, from 17:30 to 19:30 hours, the Young Hour will host an activity for skate enthusiasts, where different models of skateboards and longboards can be tried out, their features learned, and information about the sport shared.
