The mayors of five municipalities in the region will study the energy recovery plant project in Titulcia. They will request a meeting with the Environment Minister and the complete file from the Titulcia Town Hall.

The mayor of Aranjuez, Miguel Gómez Herrero, participated this noon in a meeting held at the Ciempozuelos Town Hall. Along with the mayor of this locality, Raquel Jimeno, the mayors of San Martín de la Vega, Rafael Martínez; Chinchón, Juan Antonio Vega; and Villaconejos, Adolfo Pacheco, attended. The one-hour meeting aimed to establish a roadmap regarding the possible construction of an energy recovery plant in Titulcia.

The councillors expressed their concern about the environmental impact of the facility. According to the data available, the plant could burn 300,000 tons of waste per year from across the Community of Madrid.

The mayors agreed to request a meeting with the Environment, Agriculture and Interior Minister, Carlos Novillo, to understand the status of the environmental processing and convey the concerns of the affected municipalities.

Additionally, they will request from the Titulcia Town Hall all documentation related to the installation file, named Proyecto Jarama. The municipal technicians from the five town halls will analyse it before deciding what actions each will take.

The councillors committed to maintaining open communication to seek a common line of work and understand the real impact of the installation on the region and its residents. The priority, according to the statement from the town halls, is to clarify the actions of each Administration and ensure that any decision is made with transparency and technical rigor.
