The Plenary of the Villar del Olmo City Council approves the awarding of the Municipal Gym works, with an investment of over 1,105,000 euros. The work will commence before the end of the year on the Paseo de Madrid, next to the access to Eurovillas.

The works for the new Municipal Gym of Villar del Olmo have now been awarded. The Ordinary Plenary of the City Council gave the green light this Tuesday to the awarding of works exceeding 1,105,000 euros, financed by the Regional Investment Plan 2022-26 of the Community of Madrid.

The approval passed with the vote in favour of the PP Government Team, the vote against from VOX, and the absence of representatives from PSOE and IU-Podemos. With this step, the construction of the building can begin before the year ends.

The building will be erected on the Paseo de Madrid, at the entrance to the Eurovillas urbanisation. The project includes the construction of a single-storey building of 411 square metres, divided into two independent rooms of about 30 square metres each and a large machine room of 140 square metres.

The building will also feature an access and control area, an office, a storage room, a staff toilet, a facilities room, and two changing rooms with accessible bathrooms and showers separated by gender. Outside, a porch and a parking area will be established.

The centre has been designed with universal accessibility criteria, with adapted pathways and two accessible bathrooms with showers for people with reduced mobility. It will also include lighting control systems to adjust consumption to the actual occupancy of the spaces and to make use of natural light.
