The ordinary session of September in Móstoles jointly debated two motions from PP and VOX regarding the situation in Ceuta, which were passed with the votes of both groups and the rejection of MM-Móstoles, PSOE and the Mixed Group.
The City Council of Móstoles held its ordinary session on 24 September, focusing much of the debate on the situation in Ceuta following the mass entry of people recorded on 30 and 31 July.
The municipal groups Popular and VOX presented two motions of support and solidarity with the Autonomous City. According to the agreement adopted in the Board of Spokespersons, both were debated together in a single session and were approved with the votes in favour of PP and VOX and against from MM-Móstoles, PSOE and the Mixed Group.
The PP motion called on the Government of Spain to adopt extraordinary measures in light of the events that occurred in Ceuta. The VOX motion urged the central government to formally demand from the Kingdom of Morocco, through the appropriate diplomatic communication, a public, express and unequivocal declaration of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain.
With the approval of both initiatives, the City Council expressed its solidarity with Ceuta and its support for the institutions and the people of Ceuta.
The council also debated a motion from MM-Móstoles regarding the modification of the Statutes of Móstoles Desarrollo, which included an amendment from VOX. The proposal was rejected with votes against from PP, in favour from VOX, the Mixed Group and MM-Madrid, and abstention from PSOE.
Another initiative from MM-Móstoles, regarding the recognition of the social centre La Casika, on Montero street, and the defence of autonomous organisation spaces in the municipality, fell through with votes against from PP and VOX, abstention from PSOE, and support from MM-Móstoles and the Mixed Group.
The Mixed Group brought a motion to the council to incorporate preventive devices to detect possible cases of chemical submission at parties. The proposal, which had two rejected amendments from PSOE and MM-Móstoles, did not pass: PP voted against, VOX abstained, and MM-Móstoles, the Mixed Group and PSOE voted in favour.
The session did approve a motion from the Socialist Municipal Group regarding the reduction of the waiting list for mammograms and the improvement of early detection of breast cancer in the Community of Madrid. The text was passed with votes from PSOE, MM-Móstoles, the Mixed Group and VOX, and against from PP, after a partial amendment from MM-Móstoles was accepted that achieved the same result.
Finally, the council debated a motion from the Socialist Group in support and solidarity with Ceuta.
